Advice & Tips

My advice on how to make gameplay fun in the sims 4!

-I highly recommend getting some mods to enhance certain aspects in the game (ex: pregnancy or relationships). Even little ones that don’t have a huge role in the game (ex: a sim dating app mod).

-Storytelling while playing the game

> I personally love putting a backstory or storyline to the sim (or sims) im playing with. It makes it more immersive and enjoyable in my opinion.

-play with careers/sims you don’t really play with!

> I think it’s fun trying out the different careers we have in the sims especially if you’ve never experienced the career at all. Playing with sims who have a negative trait or a negative aspiration can be a crazy ride as well! Which I highly recommend. Experiencing new stories with different type of sim personalities and characteristics makes gameplay enjoyable.

-treat traits as temporary and not permanent

>Sims are people, people’s personalities, attitudes etc can change! Cheerful sim? What if that cheerful sim experienced something traumatic & heartbreaking and becomes a gloomy sim? I think playing with traits this way adds more depth to sims especially when you’re doing storytelling with gameplay.

-take breaks

>IT IS FINE TO TAKE BREAKS! If you’re not feeling your current legacy save or household it’s completely fine to take a breath and do something different. If you feel the need to start over then by all means, do it!

-use your imagination

>I’m serious! Especially if you don’t want to use tons of mods in your game. Example: (Pretending) your sims got a loan? Use the money cheat to add money into their “bank account”.

-use poses

> not necessary if you don’t take photos of gameplay, but can come in handy to showcase a special moment you can’t with in game animations.

Lighting mods

*lotharihoe’s out the dark & into the light do the exact same thing as Luumia’s noglo and noblu and do not work together. You can pick between the two and see which you prefer best! (I personally use lotharihoe’s)

Disclaimer

Just to reiterate, you do not need to do all of these things for your gameplay posts. Some people like adding mods into their game to enhance gameplay, make their gameplay screenies really pretty and decorated. You do not have to do all of those things. These resources are here if you want to use them, not because you have to. Take what you need from this carrd and do what works for you and your gameplay!
